Raven Beer Goes
to the Movies:
The Baltimore-Washington
Beer Works inconjunction
with Kevin Perkins of Allied Advertising Baltimore, a local
marketing firm for new Hollywood film releases, recently promoted
the opening on February 9 of Kevin Costner's "Message in a
Bottle." The love story based on the New York Times bestseller
novel by Nicholas Sparks also starred Robin Wright Penn and
Paul Newman. Raven beer bottles containing messages were floated
in a hot tube just outside the theatre. Those attending the
showing were given "Message in a Bottle" bottle openers and
a Raven bottle after leaving the show. Under those red Edgar
Allan Poe beer caps were prizes such as movie posters, autographed
Message in a Bottle novels by Nicholas Sparks, Message in
a Bottle bubble bath, CD's from the original soundtrack, Baltimore
Blast tickets and use of a Hot Tubes To Go hot tube for a
week. Baltimore-Washington Beer Works also gave away its German
made pilsner beer glasses, Raven T-shirts and one lucky winner
received Its Raven tin containing a corked champagne bottle
of The Raven produced in Germany. All told, some 500 Raven
bottles bobbed up and down in the hot tube. Upon exiting the
theatre, movie goers waited patiently to receive their message
in a Raven bottle. The situation outside the theatre was congested
but the atmosphere most festive. Mike March, marketing manager,
of Bond Distributing Co. praised the event and mentioned that
it was an outstanding way to expose the name of a new product
like The Raven.
