Quoth the Raven...

Did Edgar Allan Poe drink beer? It doesn't matter much. On the other hand, the raven he wrote about has become the symbol of the Baltimore-Washington Beer Works (BWBW) whose first brew, is called, oddly enough, The Raven. Brewed under license in Germany by the Anker Brauerei, this beer is not made in the US as yet, though BWBW is currently negotiating with well-known brewer Hugh Sisson of the Clipper City Brewery in Maryland to produce it. Released at Eurobiere in Strasbourg, France, earlier this year, this delightful, full-bodied, amber lager is well-balanced with a hoppy finish. It weighs in with an alcohol content of 5.5% abv. The Raven is the product of efforts by Stephen Demczuk, founder of Luxembourg's Beer Around the World, his friend Jim Seay, a marketer, both of the US, and Wolfgang Stark of Haus der 131 Biere in Hamburg, Germany. The Raven has been well received and was served at the American Embassy in Bonn on July 4, 1997 and 1998. It has also been requested by the Poe Museum for its annual EdgarAllan Poe birthday bash. Keep an eye out for The Raven, it is sure to find a place among the finer beers in America.
